Article of the New York Times titled: "CUNY Adjusts amid tide of remedial students"

According to the following article, "CUNY Adjusts amid tide of remedial students" by Lisa Foderaro, students who take remedial courses are less likely on obtaining any kind of degree. The reason why students would never earn a degree is because they give it up along the way. The path is not an easy one because remedial students have at least one out of three tests to pass. The tests are easy for some students but for others students its not. There has been cases were students take a course to take the test more than one time and never end passing. This pretty much discourage the children, and they quit along the way. For this reason, CUNY is thinking on removing more development courses (remedial courses) and are going to focus on "wonderful students who are very highly prepared." Personally, I think development courses are good in a way for those who want to move on up in life because the courses serve as a guide or the first step that initiates your academic career. I took a student development course which focus on opening my mind to what college is and what it has to offer. I believe many students are not prepared to attend college or do not have the capacity yet to take tough highly courses. All CUNY schools need to keep creating ways to help those students who want to achieve a career in a field that have difficulty academically but that will eventually succeed. The CUNY executives should not adjusts by cutting courses but adjusts by extending courses for those students that need academic help.

Girls sorry but I think this is SO true- "The ugly truth about beauty"

I was interested in this artitle thus far: (All the other ones put me to sleep)

Dave Barry's article, "The ugly truth about beauty", could of not been more clearer.

Girls are too critical when it comes to beauty. Barry starts off saying a true statement that there is no right answer or opinion to a girl's beauty. If I were to tell a girl "yo ma, you look nice with all honesty!" the girl will just go away or say something like "stop lying or why you judging how I look?" proving that Barry is correct in his thinking. According to Barry, girls react this way due to their early encounter with a Barbie doll. The majority of young girls have experienced playing with (a) barbies dolls (b) something similar to it. The barbies have the perfect body and looks of an ideal girl. As Barry was saying, women have low self-esteem with their body and beauty because of this stupid doll Barbie. lol. OK. Girls sorry but boys would of never let action figures tell us what we have to look like. Probably that is one of the differences of boys and girls. hmmm... But the reason for this post is not get at girls but for everyone to share their thoughts and opinions on the articles relating to Barbie, cosmetic surgery and etc... (or similar articles from class).
This will help us open our minds a little and share our opinions.
Plus- it might help us with essay papers now and in the future.
